I dont think Pedestrian controlled lights are the solution here at all. Thats a fast moving road and it isnt designed for pedestrians to be crossing. If you are to change anything about it at all, a subway or a pedestrian bridge is the solution...not pedestrian lights.

How can they not put pedestrian buttons on that junction? I was recently able to watch a man tentatively trying to cross from the far side. He got into the middle and then had to walk out right in front of two full lanes of impatient traffic about to set off along the Liverpool-bound carriageway - hoping they didn't set off before he made it right across. He was lucky the car on the inside lane didn't hit him, as the vehicle in the outside lane hid him from the other drivers view....Unbelievable how our well heeled decision-makers (who wil all doubtless drive everywhere) can be so insensitive to the needs of lesser folk who travel on foot!

The Councillors/Planners responsible for making the decision about a crossing want to visit the junction on foot (and bike!)to experience crossing after dark at peak time. A pedestrian/cycle underpass would be the best solution as it wouldn't delay the movement of traffic. How are people from the St Helens side expected to reach the fine cycle-lanes of the Rainford Bypass with zero safe provision to get across?

I live just up the road and it takes about an hour to cross just to get to the Tesco. There is no place to cross over the road and so often you have to run across the road just to avoid traffic.

to get to the cemetery I catch the bus just to travel 2 stops. It is too dangerous to cross . Recently new lights were put in place. Why was no thought given to pedestrians? Surely that would have been the opportunity to install safe crossing I am so angry!

If this lad died because there was no pedestrian crossings then quite simply there should be now...wouldn't want it happening again. If it did happen again, the crossings would be put in no bother so why wait.

i cross this road regular, and i hate every moment of it, because of the danger, theres not even a green man crossing, and you have no idea which direction the cars are comming from, a safer way to cross is desperately needed !!
